EUROPART, a leading European wholesaler of truck spare parts, is establishing a new Accounting Shared Service Centre (SSC) in Budapest, Hungary to centralize and standardize finance and accounting activities across its Central and Eastern European (CEE) operations. The Head of Accounting Shared Service Centre will be responsible for designing, building, and leading this new SSC. The role involves managing the transition of local accounting teams into the centre, harmonizing processes, ensuring compliance with local and international standards, overseeing tax reporting, and building a scalable organisation that supports future growth.

Your Tasks

1. Shared Service Centre Setup & Transition

  • Lead the design, implementation, and operationalization of the SSC in Budapest.
  • Develop a detailed transition roadmap for consolidating accounting activities from CEE country organizations.
  • Manage the transfer of knowledge, processes, and people into the SSC, ensuring minimal business disruption.
  • Drive standardization of accounting processes, policies, and systems across CEE.
  • Oversee the ERP transition: manage current accounting processes performed on SAP and lead the migration to Microsoft Dynamics over the next years.

2. Leadership & People Management

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing accounting team in Budapest.
  • Ensure effective onboarding of transferred staff and manage change processes with empathy and professionalism.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, service orientation, and continuous improvement.

3. Operational Excellence & Compliance

  • Oversee all accounting operations for CEE entities, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Intercompany Accounting, and Tax Reporting (direct and indirect taxes supported by external tax advisors).
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with local GAAP, IFRS, tax regulations, and corporate policies.
  • Monitor KPIs and SLAs to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors as required.

4. Process Improvement & Digitalization

  • Identify opportunities for process automation and digital transformation in accounting.
  • Implement best practices and leverage ERP capabilities to drive efficiency.
  • Continuously improve processes and controls to strengthen financial governance.

5. Stakeholder Management

  • Act as key liaison between country organisations, Group Finance, and the SSC.
  • Build trust and maintain strong working relationships with local managing directors and Group Head of Accounting.
  • Provide regular updates on progress, challenges, and performance of the SSC to the Group CFO.

Your Profile

Education & Experience

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • Professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, Chartered Accountant) advantageous.
  • At least 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of setting up or managing a finance shared service centre or large regional accounting function.
  • Experience in multinational organizations, ideally within the retail or wholesale sector.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, local GAAP in CEE countries, and ideally tax regulations.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems: SAP (current system) and Microsoft Dynamics (target system).

Leadership & Competencies

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage teams through change.
  • Excellent project management and transformation skills.
  • Hands-on and pragmatic, with the ability to work strategically and operationally.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across the CEE region.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge in German and another CEE languages is an advantage.
